Looks like I found this issue again :-) I was going to release an update on GF to resolve https://github.com/google/fonts/issues/1424. However, I feel the newer version has even more glyph...

@sabrinang do you have the fonts installed locally? It works just fine for me. 

I totally agree that we now shouldn't drop this table at all. However, we're still using browserstack which uses old browsers which are affected by the presence of an MVAR...
