It doesn't really matter, I just didn't find a way to define custom delimiters in Vulcan.js, but in Lodash (i.e. Gatsby results app) it's possible.
It's natural to expect that expanding the content part will shift of elements below, and vice versa. Therefore I don't see why that's such a big issue.

What about using the named Noop component and then before rendering SearchBar, checking the value of `SearchBar.name !== 'Noop'`? Maybe is a lesser of an evil?
Do a lot of users really need it? It's probably not worth effort to implement.
