This also seems like a lot of great work, we should visit revisit this at some point.
Since we aren't expecting anyone to use F4's going forward, I'm closing this issue.
@engband Were you ever able to figure this out? I think I remember your S900 and S1000 being able to do this when they were running ROSflight.
Going forward we'll be switching to H7 processors with new drivers, so I'm going to close this issue as I don't expect many people to use F4s at this point.

Documentation has already been clarified.
Current plans going forward are to use H7 controllers.
