Discovered Alien Swarm actually does this already except it puts them in different folders instead of appending to the filename. That's probably the better approach because it means other files...

This should only appear for instances pointing to an invalid/missing file, but it seems like it's appearing for all of them instead. The error not having a fix available is...

Note that this isn't technically necessary, Narbacular Drop will load everything that's in file.ore from loose files instead if you just extract them to the same locations.
