Without either of our changes, unsurprisingly, it doesn't work. With only your change, it doesn't work. With only the server change I made, it works :D
Okay, the PR went through, so this is no longer necessary for us to do in 1.16.5+. I think it's okay to keep the stuff you added in #218, but...
I assume you tested this right? And does it work fine if you from Creative to Spectator to Survival?

This is possibly fixed MV Core build 864. If you could test and let us know that'd be great.
Maybe all optional shares should not be affected by `use_game_mode_profiles`? I think that would be an easy solution.
This is a rather interesting issue... Could you try the test build of #584 and let us know if it still happens?
I believe it's the same bug. Have you tried the build that ben linked to?
The latest build is 804, and this bug was fixed in build 790. Try updating and it solve the issue for you.
I tried to get this working some time ago, but Per World Inventory provided no way for us to get data. It's still possible, it'll just be more difficult.
