I don't think this is as easy to fix as you'd like it to be, but the best place to start looking is the original PR that introduced the extension...

This is fixed in gdx-liftoff which now replaces gdx-setup.

gdx-setup was retired in favour of [gdx-liftoff](https://github.com/libgdx/gdx-liftoff). If you're still interested in this and think you can convince @tommyettinger, consider opening an issue over there.
