Thanks, great to get something like this now in a first version! However, one question regarding the algorithm interface... I'm not totally sure if I miss something important here, but...

Yeah I see the point. The specific reason was, that @pbutti wants to use this functionality in LDMX and it would be more convenient in Core... But it is also...
