I'm getting the same behavior, but I unfortunately cannot use the exception decoder because that does not work with Arduino 2.0.x either. I've tried in PIO and Arduino IDE.

Any plans on merging this?

Sorry I did not get back to you sooner. I would highly recommend using ESPHome if you already have Home Assistant running. It's more integrated and will probably restart properly...
