I think it's too tedious to split it into 2 components. That's why @AndreaGuarracino and I have https://github.com/pangenome/smoothxg/pull/174. Once this is tested, we can merge, make a tiny new release...

You could do `-march=sandybridge`. It is a reasonable old architecture. In PGGB we have made positive experiences so far https://github.com/pangenome/pggb/blob/81efdfe0c2accf02f899947d179fef41ce20f8b9/Dockerfile#L74. There are 2 other ways, leading to much better abPOA...
