Well it then should just request the dark variant of whatever theme is present. Most GTK themes include a dark variant now as Gnome and elementary use it.

elementary generally uses a dedicated in the very right of the tab bar to resurrect the last closed tab.

Btw it would be consistent with other elementary apps if you used the gsettings path `path.to.relay.saved-state` and the keys `window-height` `window-width` `window-x` `window-y` `window-state`
