Does anything search through jars? I have workspaces where I have done a maven/tycho build and there I get the feeling it searching through all kinds of stuff that takes...

I recall @iloveeclipse doing some fairly recent cool stuff to make syntax highlighting work in the compare editor. Maybe he has some pointers/suggestions.
