Try the latest RPW version.
You need to switch back to the stable client version.
Make sure you're using the stable Steam client version.
Working on a fix. There are some unexpected API changes in the latest client... well, unexpected to me.
Latest release should fix the sound issue and desktop streaming for steam games. But the in-game UI still appears to be broken.
Which app crashes on the guest's side after accepting the invitation? RPW is only required on the host's side to send the invitation.
It's most likely a connectivity issue. RPW ends after the invite is sent.

Try using the latest steam beta client. Latest RPW and streaming seem to be working with it.
