I would like to know this as well. Having the device connected also causes the PC to wake from sleep at seemingly random intervals for me.
Can't you choose the version to use in the yaml? https://esphome.io/components/esp32.html
If you are comfortable in changing code and compiling your own firmware, this is quite easy to do. Just change line 41 in TFTUtils.cpp to: `tft.setRotation(2);`
Have the same issue fwiw with my thermostat graphs. I have an iPad with some Tado graphs that I need to refresh manually (by pulling down the screen) every time...

Just updated to 7.9.5, issue is back to 7.9.2 status as far as I can see. 7.9.3 disabled scaling altogether. Did not test 7.9.4. Seems to be expected reading https://github.com/notepad-plus-plus/notepad-plus-plus/commit/47ca5281fee5fa0df4bed5e5c5ae2391d5034084
More than 2 years after my initial post the issue still exists. Is there any chance in it ever getting fixed?
