I pondered it too, as I was updating the styling of help.libreoffice.org, and in the end dropping it yielded better results across systems.

What app menu? Are you referring to the GNOME Shell feature that was removed years ago in v3.32? https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=119996
You must be talking about some other menu then. Please attach a screenshot.
