It is still open. I’ll take the chance to mention [`sniffpy`](https://pypi.org/project/sniffpy/), although I think that, just as [`mimesniff`](https://pypi.org/project/mimesniff/), fails to follow [the spec](https://mimesniff.spec.whatwg.org/), at least not completely.

That tool sounds very interesting! Regarding this specific issue, it could be argued that it is indeed a good first issue. I’m unsure, though.
