There's a bug in the shader compiler. Unfortunately it's a quite complex shader, so narrowing down the codegen bug and finding a workaround is difficult.

This is likely related to an environment variable it's trying to find. Does this issue still repro for you?

Sorry, I should've mentioned that the GDK repository uses [git-lfs](https://git-lfs.github.com/). In any case, sounds like it's fixed in newer GDK builds which is great.

Hmm... For DX12, Shader Model up through 6.4 should work on Xbox One S in Game Mode. Can you confirm you are not using the WARP device?

What version of the OS recovery do you have on that system?
