Looks good. I've generalized it a bit, which allowed me to remove my InnoDB hack (that was needed because of missing store_lock). Pushed into the vector branch. Closing.
I have an assert below, and I believe effect is the same. But I'll move it up indeed, it'll be a bit more obvious
I thought that replication code doesn't use libmariadb. And server implementation of the client library seems to ignore MYSQL_OPT_BIND

could you please rebase it on top of the latest bb-11.6-MDEV-32887-vector ? It's impossible to review now, it looks like it includes basically everything
