try updating/reinstalling your JDK. This fixed my problems on Solus OS

might also be an nvidia driver issue, if you are on it

you could try uninstalling your current java and replace it with openjdk-8 jdk in apt

might be related to GC lag

you could just rename the jar to a .zip, extract it and change the string in the class that handles the version text to whatever you want.

this also happens with ARM Linux.
