Looks to me like it's almost always reproducible when opening the same file in two separate neovim instanaces. One of them works, the other doesn't

Yes, I saw it with plain neovim, but it hasn't happened for quite some time

Thanks! I've seen that this feature has been requested multiple times over at https://lichess.org/forum/team-lichess-beta-testers, so I'll try to get it into the next official release if possible.
