That's largely the same positioning. It's too large and too close to the edges of the shape so proportionally it is off.
Yep, it's poorly executed by me. It's an icon that was rushed out because it wasn't in the set.
I'm definitely open to ideas to replace the A (it is kind of a lazy solution for "Apps").
