YouTube gives higher quality compression for 1440p and 4k streams. Try it for yourself with upscaled 1080p stream. 1440p should be an option.

Started happening to me today on windows version

It got fixed for me after a few days and account removal and reconnection. Can't tell what exactly helped tho.

Started happening very frequently again. HAve no idea how to fix it this time.
