This has been happening to me lately when using code block syntax in chats--same double height cursor, erratic highlighting representation, inability to place cursor on the correct line.

Not quite the same bug though; as I experienced it, it doesn't open a new window, just reloads the Groups page. And it only happens when the link is inside...
