if its ads related then its not the standard Youtube Annotations. Try uBlock maybe?
Adblock should take care of that. I wouldnt touch any Youtube ads stuff in an extension, this can only lead to Google deciding to remove extension from store.

adblocking should be removed from ImproveTube entirely, it only risks extension being deleted by google, and YT is currently fighting adblocks making changes daily so there is no chance keeping...
This is standard YT behavior. YT does same thing without extension
logged into YT? I have not logged standalone chrome installed with no extensions and in that stock not logged in Chrome status disappears after 2 seconds. Now the funny thing...

The fact seekbar doesnt disappear for me without any extensions tells me this is YouTube screwing with users, you might be getting server one of google experimental UI versions
