This got fixed in the current master branch so the issue could be closed.

This is looking good to me. I like the "practical" flat look with few colors compared to the 2.5D shaded look and being able to more easily change overall themes...

Yes, having a few semantic concepts (new, delete, communicate...) mapped to colors as part of the theme is the best way to deal with light/dark theme changes.
