@matthewfeickert Yes, a source build on conda-forge would be preferable. I don't know of any fundamental reason why it wouldn't work. I don't have the bandwidth to work on this...

@shimwell We follow [SPEC 0](https://scientific-python.org/specs/spec-0000/) with respect to minimum versions required, which currently says we should support scipy 1.12+
