I don't think it looks all that bad. Maybe slightly lighter / less saturated colours and a significantly lighter baseplate?
Given the colours even alter in strip direction maybe there is a way building the P from blocks? How are the waves aligned w.r.t. the pixel grid?

The icons do work for smaller sizes now but the symbol is spread over too much of the baseplate. Symbol size is about 31px X 33px which is definitely too...
26x26 (28x28) for non-spherical symbols, 30x30 for spherical ones.
