Thank you for the PRs. There symbol should be smaller still (and moved up/to the right maybe) so that it fits into a centered 30x30 circle. 
I was about to open an issue about this for technical reasons.
The lowest hanging fruit-solution would be a (symbol-on-baseplate) globe with fantasy continents on it. If we ditch the fullscreen design, we need to find ways to incorporate the on-globe-baseplate-symbols. Right...

It could work with just altering saturation and lightness while keeping the hue constant. Strictly speaking the shading would have to be different for Circle and Square, not sure though...
