This may be for historical reasons. I don't recall what works well on what Windows version. :)

Thanks. Can you reproduce this issue with `mitmdump` instead of mitmproxy? Do you get an error then?

This _may_ be fixed with mitmproxy 10.2. I'm going to close this for now, but happy to reopen if users still experience it.

I'm strongly in favor of a clean auth implementation instead of an additional option. This should be solvable. :)
