Yeah, our [release policy](https://bazel.build/release#support-stages) does say we promise to backport fixes for OS-compatibility issues into this LTS release in Maintenance stage. Bazel 6 is still in maintenance until Dec 2025...

I agree with your judgment, but I think this is more of a decision to make for the core team.
