Yes, astropy.units can handle a wide range of units. Basically, as long as the user specifies the wavelength and spectral units, we can use astropy.units to convert our preferred units....
Probably should reopen. Have no memory of why I closed it.
For JWST, units of cubes will be MJy/sr. Units of extracted spectra will be in Jy. Both products will be outputs from the pipeline. Of course, offline work will likely...
See issue #82 for more discussion.
Agree with both your comments. Will need work to get this to all work. One idea would be to use the AKARI + Spitzer fitting to develop the needed capabilities....
I agree with all your comments. :-)
Hummm...I prefer Area as that conveys what we are doing to my brain. But maybe I'm not understanding or in a minority. Just integration = area under the curve in...
Notebook updated to use a custom `Gaussian1D` that as (area, mean, stddev) as parameters (area replaces amplitude). The two spectral segments have a factor of 2 different resolutions.
One nice thing about the JointFitter (that looks like a bad thing at first glance), is that each spectral segment requires a separate compound model. This is a good thing...
All great thoughts. One comment. Getting closer to the metal via scipy.optimize is a possibility, but it would reduce the flexibility to easily swap in different optimizers (aka minmizers) and...
