I don't believe this is possible anymore since google has phased out XMPP/jabber from gtalk and have moved to the google hangouts thing.

Sorry, I don't have a mac. @throughnothing, can you test this on your mac? I wonder if this behavior occurs if not all the deps are installed.

Does MSN even use the XMPP/jabber protocol?
