I believe I was under the impression that "an urge to take a bath overwhelms you" was an effect-less flavor message and wasn't aware that it meant you jumped into...

I think the value of the scroll of light is already near zero... Wands are a little better because they're like 11-15 scrolls of light, but still not really on...

This needs to be revisited in light of vanilla's recent change giving martial arts extra attacks (which I intend to incorporate), which has boosted the overall expected damage: https://nethackwiki.com/wiki/Martial_arts#To-hit_and_damage

Now that vanilla has been merged, this should be taken care of. Please reopen if that's not the case somehow.

Appears to have been fixed at some point, since when I tested locally (I teleported to mines' end, picked up the luckstone, wished for the Bell of Opening, then quit)...
