You do what @lpryszcz said but then just restart the GNOME session by Alt+F2 and r instead of logout + login

Not sure why this hasn't been merged already, but in d3f7a7e22d56c72ac620c9da3a2537959fb7b42e there is a pretty quick fix. Just edit the metadata.json and add the appropriate version and it should work!

I am using GNOME 42 and a similar fix helps this be compatible for my system. Is there an official way that this needs to be tested before fixes like...
