according to https://github.com/kennethreitz/requests/issues/1732 this should be fixed in the most recent (IIRC 2.1+ ) version of python-requests also, you can "fix" it by installing pyOpenSSL, ndg-httpsclient and pyasn1 per https://stackoverflow.com/questions/18578439/using-requests-with-tls-doesnt-give-sni-support/18579484#18579484
