PDF stinks! (this line will be deleted)

Why do you say that?

Please add ePUB support.

What benefit would this provide over HTML and PDF?

Doesn't sound like it's worth the effort until we've got the tooling more or less worked over to me, but I don't understand the draw. If you want a format that can re-flow, HTML is probably supported by <your-device>, no?

ePub is basically a container format for XHTML files, strict rules about media types, a subset of CSS with a few extensions for pagination, and a definition for metadata, table of contents and such. Makes the experience of using the document on eReaders much better, but I wouldn't spend time on it until the tooling is up to snuff. Should be fairly easy to add at that point if one is such inclined.

PDF in general has many problems, is still subjected to proprietary and undocumented "enhancements", and it would be easier to read some XEP documents on devices with smaller screens with ePUB readers.

We may keep this issue open until someone would step up ;-)

closing as this is now being tracked in xsf-tools

re-opening per comment in #editor -- "yes, xsf-tools is the right place to implement it, but that may be relevant here for deployment" "(here == xeps)"

ePUBator (available in a form of a mobile application) converts PDF to ePUB using iText.

Well, it would probably make more sense to start with the XHTML and turn that into ePub or Mobi.

epub can be created using tools/xep2md.sh + pandoc
