/hold This PR includes the commits of https://github.com/kubevirt/kubevirt/pull/12598 which cleans up the PatchOperation around the code. This needs to be merged before this one, otherwise the code doesn't compile

@fossedihelm @EdDev would you mind to take a look to this?

The last thing I'd like to clean-up in the `patch` the package is the `EscapeJSONPointer`, but well, this another time :)

@victortoso wondering if we should add a check in the admission webhook to validate this earlier. In any case, I would also leave this check here.
