  This is on Software and Vulkan as of 1.7.4156, there has to be something on your end not being right.

I can attest to the same behavior now, should have been more thorough, my apologies for that. It only displays text if it starts in Software and you switch after....

Tested as of 1.7.5624 and can not reproduce, no freeze frame, hitching or anything to that ilk.

I've tested this on my NTSC-U copy, with the characters Lu Xun and Wei Yan. Maybe this pertains to the PAL version, I can't test that as I don't own...

Tested this again today, on version 1.7.5158, spent about 45 minutes stringing combos that trigger a death element and didn't come across a crash, I'll attach a savestate so anyone...
