You're in the right place. I don't think this feature belongs here. I think most git features should be handled by a git client like source tree or github desktop....

I started working on this but it requires refactoring some internal code. This effort stalled due to personal time constraints. Feel free to continue without me.
I think one of the reasons this project is dead, is because there is no motivation.
