I tested this same ROM in bsnes-plus and that debugger agrees with Mesen-SX's Memory Tools window.

I never get these kinds of errors in my code because I always use unsigned integers for nonnegatives. Unpopular nowadays but it works for me.

Are the colors messed up in the Tile Viewer or just the Tilemap Viewer? The tires look ok, are they sprites? Are the sprite colors messed up too?
