Nobody answered! I have the same problem, when I want to use this algorithm on a big dataset (like 100000 samples) I face bad_alloc error, and it returns to distances...
The minPoints parameter refers to k nearest neighbors around each point which make a circle and the point itself and these k points make primary cluster at very early stages...
