Actually gunzip is used to decompress. But wget is used to download the genome. If you don't have wget, you can manually download and decompress the genome here ftp://ftp.1000genomes.ebi.ac.uk/vol1/ftp/technical/reference/phase2_reference_assembly_sequence/hs37d5.fa.gz Best,...
