Need to re-evaluate compiler warnings. There have been many fixes since this issue was opened.
We haven't updated romio since this issue so I assume the problem still exists.
I did a quick search of OMPI_Affinity_str on main branch. Looks like dead code. I can post a PR and ask @jsquyres to review.
I realize that OMPI_Affinity_str is an exposed extension https://docs.open-mpi.org/en/main/features/extensions.html Some users might depend on it.
