The symptom aligns with https://github.com/open-mpi/ompi/issues/12064 The issue has been fixed in 5.0.1
We will re-evaluate the issue after 5.0.2 release. The timeout functionality is also implemented in prrte, so it is possible the hang fix also resolves this issue.

Now that @hppritcha has added mpi4py for v5.0.x, I rebased this PR and will check CI result. I assume it's safe to merge if CI passes.
@arunjose696 Curious if you have tried 4.1.4/5/6 in addition to 5.0.0? It would be very helpful to determine the impact.
@YarShev Is this issue only observed with Open MPI 5.0.0? Does 4.1.x manifest similar symptoms?
