AFAIR Carby is fine. Bitfunx is also okay if you power the Pico from 5V through a diode. It's described in the installation diagram.
Do you use Helder's or AliExpress flex cable? I assume it's the Chinese one since they don't come with a diode. If you don't mind running an additional wire then...
