Nice analysis, I think it would be clearer if you measured the time with PullRequest.

For now, I will deal with it individually with `hasattr`. I am still investigating how to add docstrings in the case of enum for documentation.

Sorry I didn't understand well. It would certainly be more appropriate to raise a VTKVersionError.
