Yeah, it'd be great to have this tagged as supporting Python 3. We're looking at using this project in Zulip and we're close to moving to full Python 3 support....

FYI, this project has been unmaintained for a while; there's a friendly fork at https://github.com/moggers87/django-sendfile2 in the meantime (which has Django 4.0 support, for example).

It works with Django 1.10 as well. Might be worth updating the documentation.

@hartwork sorry for the slow reply; I'd happily merge such a migration if I can be confident it's been tested carefully, but it's not a priority.

Thanks for the report! I don't have time to investigate right now, but it sounds like a missing `readlink` somewhere, if you want to debug and submit a PR.

@philippeowagner can you add a test for your changes, and clean up the commit history?

OK. This project isn't super active, but possibly someone will clean this PR up the next time there's active work on it.
