Were you queueing on EUW? If so, it is unrelated to Watch Friend. The servers on EUW have problems and will either result in long confirmations, failed confirmations, "invisible" confirmations...
Don't trust the sleep/wake mechanism, there are issues on windows too. It's not DotA related. (yes, even if you'll swear you played 2-3 games where this doesn't happen). On Windows...
But you didn't answer regarding my point. Was your computer restarted in the last 2-5 days? Not DOTA or Steam.
