Can't "uncheck" FTP Curl checkbox

I was able to list files from a client but failed when trying to open. I tried checking the FTP Curl (experimental) checkbox to see if that resolved the problem....

Looks like I'm able to connect to a client's server. However, I get a message that it can't get the files. Is there an FTP transaction log stored somewhere so...
