Monitor is swapping to Typescript now so this would be definitely be a big helper. As noted above, base carbon does provide types and the cost shouldn't be that high...
I don't think this would affect Monitor too much. We only use FileDrop once and it could easily be converted to use FileUploaderButton (one of the subcomponents of FileUploader) instead....
