Closing this issue, which I've been unable to reproduce. Please re-open if the problem persists.
Suggested fix: * try evaluating models with missing modes and see what happens. Is the message clear? If not change it.

Proposed fix: * requires model boundaries to come from soft/hard parameters... which can be enforced when old models are updated to use the new interface
An ongoing PR (https://github.com/sxs-collaboration/gwsurrogate/pull/52) will temporarily restrict `numpy < 2.0` so at least installation works. Once this is merged in, we'll look into migrating to `numpy >= 2.0`
